The challenges women still face in business are real!
Let me share why….
As property investors, my husband and I will call up agents enquiring about buying property on a daily basis.
Surprisingly, when my husband asks the questions first, there is no hesitation on the answer. When I call up by myself, the response coming back is like I don’t know what I’m talking about!
Now if you know me, you know that is NOT the case. I get paid to speak and in fact, I’m the go-getter in buying and negotiating most of the properties we purchase.
I ask myself, is it me? Do I sound confident in asking the right questions (which I am doing every day)? Is it because my accent is from the Caribbean? What!? Someone tell me what!
Then I realised it’s THEIR problem, not mine. Perhaps they feel threatened by the fact I AM A WOMAN and I know what the heck I am talking about.
I run multiple businesses, speak around the world, interview amazing people across the globe, I have traveled to over 50+ countries, lived in 5 countries, been featured in Forbes, BBC Business News etc. etc. – Perhaps they didn’t know LOL
I think it’s NOW more than ever, time for us to STAND UP for the fact we are WOMEN and are proud that we have accomplished great things and we DON’T need anyone’s approval to GET IT DONE!
There I said it!
